Southeast Texas Festival of New Plays


Readings are scheduled for Friday, August 16th at 7 pm Saturday, August 17th at 2 pm and 7 pm and Sunday, August 18th at 2 pm. The cost of the Festival is $15 for the week or $5 per reading and BCP subscribers’ are admitted at no charge.

Beaumont Community Players (BCP) has selected the four plays to be featured for its 1st festival of new works. The Southeast Texas Festival of New Plays is slated for August 16th through 18th 2019 and will feature staged readings of four previously unpublished plays. Over 250 plays were submitted for the festival from all over the US and as far away as New Zealand. John Manfredi the Executive Director of BCP was ecstatic about the response.

The four selected plays are:
The Ritual by Peter Ritt directed by Elayne LeTraunik
Blurrred: A Modern Fairy Tale by Makena Metz directed by Jeff Courts
Words, Words, Words by Larry Raiken directed by Julia Rodriguez
Tracy Jones by Stephen Kaplan directed by Sean McBride

Each pay will receive a week of rehearsal culminating in a staged reading performance at the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts. Each selected author will receive a cash award provided by BCP through their Margaret Bolton School of Performing Arts.
